#PFW: Off-White AW17

Nobody knows how to create a collection juxtaposing high fashion elements with street style culture like Off-White does. Many fashion houses, although successful in doing so, do not execute it as effortlessly as Off-White does.

The female power suit has returned with classic checkered pattern and a sharply tailored blazer. Yet it was anything but traditional. Trousers were straight-leg and skinny, featuring D-ring zips at the bottom and skirts were anything but formal with thigh-high split detail.

Mesh was used to cover yet expose the mid-riff, something we also saw at Calvin Klein during New York Fashion Week. But rather than tucking the translucent material into bottoms, it was pulled over to reveal the structure and details of the garment.

But there wasn’t just casual clothing at the show. A long couture-worthy satin dress appeared with a pair of trainers, one of the checkered blazers and a matching clutch. It sounds like it was thrown together awkwardly but it worked; elegance was redefined. A blue mini skirt was paired with metallic ankle boots but was given the Off-White finish with the addition of an ultra-long sleeved cropped hoody.

This collection was the ultimate teacher of how to do high fashion street style. Thanks for the lesson, Off-White. Noted.

#PFW: Saint Laurent AW17

One of the most talked about shows of the month, Anthony Vaccarello dazzled spectators with his latest collection, proving those wrong who criticised last season as ‘safe’.

What would Saint Laurent be without the coolest all black outfits? Whether it be mini skirts, dresses and a patent leather overload. But that wasn’t all. An electric blue V-plunge dress featuring shoulder pads appeared on the runway as well as a tobacco brown leather skirt which was virtually formed by two large ruffles.

What was the show stopper though? If you haven’t seen them plastered over your Instagram feed, let me tell you about the diamond boots. These spectacular pair of shoes are completely covered in diamonté crystals, as though you’re walking in a wearable disco ball.

Saint Laurent’s AW17 show is unmissable and Anthony Vaccarello appears unstoppable, and it’s only just getting started.

#PFW: Vera Wang

It was absolutely gutting to find out Vera Wang wouldn’t present her AW17 collection on the runway. However, when the editorial photography was posted, the disappointment faded away and it left me fantasising about strolling around an uninhabited Manor House in her designs.

The clothing was as majestic as the scenery: short black dresses held much volume at the skirt and featured embroidered gold feathers and stars, tulle was used to create elegance in lightness and length to the longer gowns and thick patent leather ankle boots coordinated every outfit to achieve modern edge – the unique Vera Wang way.

#MFW: Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini AW17

A romance softly nodding towards the 60’s. Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini’s AW17 collection was girly and chic.

Frills that delicately detailed the frame volumised shirts and dresses. Bows also added fine detail around the neck and the waist. Dazzling with crystal embellishments, sheer fabric, whether placed on the top or bottom of the body created moderninity as well as attention grabbing glamour.

The only dominant item of clothing were mini skirts that were paired with jumpers or a matching blazer. Other than that, the individual garments were rather varied: a checkered jumpsuit with a corset-style top half, super short shorts that went up to the waist and numerous variations of high-waisted trousers.

A delightful collection that elegantly displayed femininity. Classical style was shown with a subtle modern edge.

#MFW: Versace AW17

‘Love, courage, equality, Versace.’ Just a handful of words and slogans that were printed onto the clothing at Versace’s AW17 show. The message of unity and strength to women is one Donatella promotes regularly in her designs and executes boldly season after season.

An electrifying array of colours were used in both fabrics and hair including red, blue and yellow. The striking shades danced in details actively whilst contrasting with deep hues of black and navy.

Although the collection was heavily based on trends such as loud political statements and street culture, the Versace aesthetic remains unchanged: strong, bright and boldly feminine.

#MFW: Diesel Black Gold AW17

Workwear has never looked so good. Diesel Black Gold combines traditional office attire with street style motifs to create the ultimate smart/casual outfis.

Pinstriped trousers were amped up with the addition of leather corsets and trainers, grey turtle neck jumpers were layered with denim dungaree-style dresses and also featured thumb holes.

A minimalistic colour scheme made up of hues of grey, black and white was used but the clothing was far from basic.

Jazz up your everday wardrobe by adding ensembles from this collection; a jumper and trouser combination never has to be boring again.

#MFW: Max Mara AW17

Next season your wardrobe needs but only one colour. Yes, there was some all-black-everything attire but red, beige and grey colour blocking was present too.

Light knitted turtle neck jumpers were paired with midi skirts that featured a front split and straight leg trousers in a matching colour.

Of course, what would Max Mara be without the brand’s signature coats? There was one to match your mood, colour choice and style. Virtually all were ankle length and made with the same fabrics of the rest of the ensemble. A cape was also displayed with arm holes that exposed up to the elbow.

The designs are smart enough to wear to the office and casual enough to wear for your Sunday brunch too. Whatever your mood, mantra or mission, there’s a reason to shop Max Mara next season.
