Oscars 2017: Best Dressed

Not here to discuss the infamous moment Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced the wrong Best Picture winner. It’s been mentioned so much today that it’s been easy to forget congratulating awards winners such as La La Land (awarded 6 titles), Moonlight (the real Best Picture winner) and Best Actress Emma Stone (who’s card was read twice!)

But what do we love the most? Of course, we adore film making and everyone who’s involved in it, but mostly we enjoy falling in love with the gowns that are worn to the event.

So, here’s the part of the Oscars you may have missed, the best dressed.

74th Golden Globes: The Red Carpet’s Best Dressed

Yesterday saw Hollywood’s finest strutting down the red carpet in Beverly Hills for the 74th Golden Globes awards.

Jimmy Fallen presented the award ceremony that saw La-La Land break records with swooping 7 awards. One of today’s most iconic designer’s turned director, Tom Ford, unfortunately missed out to Damien Chazelle for the Best Director of a Motion Picture. The Globes also featured super model Naomi Campbell with the gorgeous and talented actor, Matt Bomer’s assistance to present the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, won by Hugh Laurie.

Now, let us admire the stars in their attire and present an (unofficial) award of our own, the 74th Golden Globes Best Dressed.

2017: What’s To Come

2017 Mood: Naomi Campbell turning her community service into a fashion show wearing a Dolce & Gabbana gown. This year marks the 10th aniversary of this iconic statement. Source: Out.com 📸

Happy New Year from Molicia! Better late than ever, right? As some of you may be aware, I had recently taken some time out of running the blog. This was due to personal circumstances and I would like to start this fabulous new year by apologising for my absence and marking my presence. During my time away, I’ve made many plans for the blog this year including more content and expansion! I’m sure you share my excitement and I would like to thank you all for your continued support.

9 days into 2017, I may still have half my Christmas weight to lose, lots of resolutions to try again for the 18462 time already this year and get over the January blues. However, I think a goal we can all agree on is to make the best out of any situations we’re currently in. Live 2017 like Naomi Campbell wearing a Dolce & Gabbana dress to her community service in 2007. (Maybe without the community service part), but you get the message.

Make every day your day, darlings!

✨ MTV VMA’s Best Dressed ✨

One of the music industry’s most talked about awards shows, the MTV VMAs, was held last night at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Previous years have seen much controversy including the beginning of the Kanye West vs Taylor Swift drama and Nicki Minaj asking Miley Cyrus, “what’s good?”.

This year however, was rather pleasant: Beyoncé topped Madonna’s record and became the most awarded VMA artist of all time, Kanye West used his 4 minute window to showcase his video for Fade, featuring Teyana Taylor and as well as winning the Michael Jacksom Video Vanguard Award, Rihanna performed 4 times and sang virtually all of her songs and Drake gushed about his love for her.

However, I’m sure there’s still a question that comes to mind. Who was the best dressed? That’s what we want to know. See the red carpet royalty below:

The Best Instagram Fashion Accounts

Whenever some quick inspiration is needed, Instagram is the first place I go to. There are infinite numbers of accounts that offer inspo as well as affordable ways to get the look. I’ve put together a list of the best Instagram fashion accounts to follow. Here it is…

@micahgianneli

Model and blogger Micah Gianneli posts OOTD content daily. I love the fact that some days her look is casual and others she could be mistaken for someone attending a red carpet event.

BONUS: She always tags the places she gets her clothes from in the photos!

@badlydrawnmodels

It’s great to scroll down your feed and see something unique and fun. As the name clearly states, it’s an account of models… Drawn very badly.

@thecurvyfashionista_

Not just your average celebrity street style account. @thecurveyfashionista_ makes gorgeous edits and is always one of the first to post the latest trends.

@manieredevoir

The official account of a UK online retailer that offers editorials that every street style blogger could be inspired by. For every girl’s darker side.

@houseofcb

Another online retailer that offers editorials that are vogue-worthy. This account is the complete opposite to the previous one on the list as the clothes are perfect for your girly side.

@sydneyfashionblogger

This fashion account is like looking at a feed of your dream life. I’ve been a loyal follower for a couple of years and I am always inspired by @sydneyfashionblogger’s style and the quality of her photos. She’s the type of woman that makes you want to seriously up your game.

@thefashionbybel

More famous for being a worldwide beauty vlogging phenomenon, Carli Bybel’s fashion account is due serious credit. Another person that tags the shops that sell the clothes she wears (yasssss), you can get the look. Everything she wears is also super affordable.

@laurenpopey

‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star Lauren Pope is a serious style crush. She often posts photos of her outfits and again, they’re usually from places where the majority of us shop.

For tonnes of selfies and a peak into my life, follow my Instagram: @mollsdickinson, I might even follow you back 😉

Molicia Mondays: Strobing Like A Star For Less 🌟

Evening all. I recently discovered the gems that Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic uses for her flawless strobing.

It comes to no surprise that the star uses the ultimate high-end products to achieve ultimate glam. She starts with Benefit Watts Up highlighter for a creamy base and follows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator for solid shine.

I’m not claiming to be any sort of expert BUT after some experimentation I found a way to achieve a similar glow for a lot less!

Urban Decay Naked 2 palette

As Kim does, I use the Benefit Watts Up highlighter on my nose and above my cheek bones in a C formation that starts above the arch of the brow and finishes above the cheekbones.

I then use Half Baked, a golden shade from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette and trace over the C shape.

All to do next is to dust off the excess product and voila! You have a simple substitute to the ABH Illuminator that you probably never realised you had. Of course, you can do this with any gold eyeshadow you have.

Give it a try and let me know what you think!
