#NYFW: Calvin Klein AW17

The fashion world had eagerly been awaiting the first show to be organised by Calvin Klein’s new Chief Creative Director, Raf Simons. Was the collection worth the hype surrounding it? Absolutely.

Guests that included A$ap Rocky and Sarah Jessica Parker were seated in an installation of Sterling Ruby artwork, an artist that also inspired Raf Simons’ designs for his Dior Couture debut. It included pops of colour, denim and aluminium, symbolising the sweet compatibility of how two artists collaborate to bring the most memorable creations.

A message of unity. Women’s and menswear appeared side by side, vivid colours clashed but worked well together, suits were teamed with mesh tank tops and all leather and all denim outfits were present. A celebration of individualism whilst promoting becoming one. Fashion and politics joining forces without the need for words.

Raf Simon’s tells a tale of America’s current state through his Calvin Klein debut and ensures us all that the best is yet to come.
